Summary of Recent Foreign Investment in Chongqing

Chongqing was the earliest open city in inland China. Today the foreign economic cooperation is increasing dramatically. According to the statistics of the customs, from January to June in 2005, there were 37 newly signed projects, including foreign project contracting, labor service cooperation and design and consultation service. The contract value was 53.85 million dollars, 68% higher than the same period of 2004. The volume of business was 36.73 million dollars, 27% lower than the same period of 2004.

 

 

Summary of Recent Chongqing Investment Overseas

There are 15 newly approved external investment enterprises (institutions) with the total investment of 16.36 million dollars, 148% higher than the same period of 2004. In which 10.59 million dollars are invested by Chinese enterprises. There are 12 newly approved overseas enterprises with the total investment of 16.21 million dollars and 3 newly approved overseas institutions with the total investment of 150,000 dollars. In 2005 there were 932 persons from Chongqing sent overseas for employment, 20% higher than the same period of 2004. Now there are 5,471 persons abroad, 2% higher than the same period of 2004.
